John Finley
My name is John Finley. I'm from Canada. I grew up in the forests of northern Alberta and I love rivers, lakes, and trees. I like animals too, but I don't like them in my house because I don't like to have animal hair on my clothes. I went to college in the provincial capital (Edmonton) and have worked there for several years. I studied Electrical Engineering Technology and Computer Engineering Technology and I have worked as computer technician. I have also worked a little on farms and have done general labour work too. Both of my parents are from the farm and I am from the forest, so sometimes living in a city is foreign to me. I really like all the trees in Donetsk because it is like being in the forest.
I like science, nature, and languages. I have never been very good at sports so sports does not interest me very much. I like to organize and analyze ideas and I'm always thinking about how to put ideas in a logical order - and it helps me when I explain things. I don't listen to a lot of music but my favorite types are classical (like Tchachovsky) and instrumental (like Zamfir), so I don't know very much about pop music. Sometimes I'm shy or moody because I have that kind of personality type, but if I can learn something or teach something I forget about being shy. In my free time I like to be alone but I'm always ready to explain, to learn, and to help. I don't have any family and I've never been married. I didn't come to Ukraine to get a wife, but sometimes people don't believe it!
I'm interested in being in Ukraine because I want to learn more about the world. I want to learn what life is like in other places, how the people live, and how people think about their world. I also want to learn a major language like Russian. I teach English because it allows me to have a job so I can stay in a foreign country for a long time. I'm not interested in being a tourist. I want to experience Ukraine - not just look at it. I am intererested to talk to anyone about Canada, Ukraine, English, Russian, or other things.
